Oakwood Forest Community Center

Offer a tutoring and mentoring service that affords students, both young and college age, an environment that promotes active learning, community engagement, and the pursuit of success. Our program also hopes to foster community enrichment by addressing neighborhood concerns and by connecting the Latino population of Oakwood to the greater Greensboro community to deal with local issues.

Guilford College community scholars, Bonner students, and volunteers participate in an after school tutoring program that supports the positive growth of elementary and middle school aged children physically and educationally through exercise and homework assistance.

The site is also operated in partnership with the Center for New North Carolinians, which coordinates ESOL classes and health services for the resident population.
